Albert Bichot Pouilly Fuisse

This appellation from southern Burgundy is located in the Mâconnais region around the villages of Fuissé, Solutré, Pouilly, Vergisson and Chaintré. Calcic brown soil and limestone overlie Lias marls on the lower south and east facing slopes of the rocky spurs of Solutré and Vergisson. These terroirs yield gorgeous white wines that often require a few years of ageing before reaching their full potential.

The wine goes through vinification in stainless steel vats to preserve the fresh fruity and floral characteristics of the chardonnay. Achieved with selected or indigenous yeasts but not aromatic ones, alcoholic fermentation lasts from 5 to 6 weeks. During aging, there is a touch of French oak added in order to give the wine a discreet and well-blended woodiness.

This wine features beautiful pale yellow colour with golden highlights. A lively, aromatic nose with predominant notes of white fruit and spices is underpinned by a subtle touch of oak and vanilla. Mineral on the palate with a good balance between acidity and roundness. Lovely length.

This wine may be laid down for 3-5 years or more.
